Our Story and Purpose

Dr. Corale Dorn and Dan Dorn, both had a strong passion for helping animals and their community. Realizing there was a need for veterinary care in Dell Rapids, they saw this as an opportunity to combine their passions. They fonded Dells Veterinary Services in 2006 with the goal to help our community by providing excellent care for both pets and livestock.  Our clinic has grown and changed since opening but our mission has stayed the same which is…

Our clients, our community, and our employees are like family. Our best day is when we help them. That’s why we’re here.

Corale Dorn

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Owner

I’m a second-generation veterinarian. My parents owned their own clinic in western South Dakota. As you can imagine, this introduced me to the veterinary field at a young age and I didn’t want to be anything else. I studied for eight years to obtain my degree and continue to expand my knowledge with one hundred hours of continuing education every year. While in school, I met my husband and together we opened Dells Vet. As a doctor, my biggest responsibility is to identify areas where my patients might get sick and prevent it. But sometimes our plans don’t turn out so I also discover the source of a patient’s sickness and remedy it. Besides work, I love spending time with my family. I also enjoy any outdoor activities but triathlons are my favorite!

Nicole Wrage-Hansen

Certified Veterinary Technician

I’ve lived in Dell Rapids all my life. Growing up in a rural community helped me develop a love for animals and I enjoyed taking care of them. I got my first opportunity to do that professionally when I was in high school. At sixteen, I became a Kennel Attendant at Dells Vet and cared for the pets that were boarding with us. After completing my education, I became a Certified Veterinary Technician and have continued working at Dells Vet. In addition to caring for animals, I’m also passionate about helping owners and teaching them more about their pets or livestock. Outside of work, my husband and I have four dogs, seven cats, two calves, and many ducks, turkeys, and chickens. I also enjoy riding and training my horses.

Alexis Nuño

Veterinary Assistant

I spent most of my childhood in Sioux City and since I was a young girl I’ve always wanted to work with animals. I studied at Iowa Tech Community College and also got working experience at a local clinic. I ultimately decided I wanted to further my education and that’s what led me to Dells Vet. I’m passionate about veterinary medicine for a lot of reasons but one of them is because I get to help make a difference in the lives of animals and their owners. At Dells Vet, I provide support to the veterinarians and technicians, quality care for the patients, and ensure a clean and comfortable environment. In my free time, I enjoy being with my dog. I also like to go exploring and taking pictures of things I find interesting, A lot of which are of my dog.

Kacie Weiland

Veterinary Assistant

Growing up in rural Iowa introduced me to animals at a young age. My family had pets like cats and dogs as well as farm animals like chickens, goats, pigs horses, and a couple of bighorns. Being around animals so much help me develop a bond with them and I always wanted to give them the best care. This inspired me to graduate from Iowa Central in Agriculture Technology and ultimately join the Dells Vet team. I assist the techs and the vet by making sure everything is ready and clean for them and help where it’s needed. For fun, I love spending time with family, horseback riding, rodeo, being on the water, and golfing. I also enjoy caring for my two horses and two dogs.

Dan Dorn

Executive Director

My family ran a farm in southwest Minnesota. This allowed me to be around animals from a young age and led me to pursue a career in the Ag field. I graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Agriculture Business and knew I wanted to work with not only animals but people too. This is one of the reasons my wife, Dr. Corale Dorn, and I opened Dells Vet. I’m passionate about helping producers reduce risk, increase their profitability, and make their life easier. Dell Rapids hasn’t just been a great community to work in but also to raise a famiy. We have three children, Justin, Emily, and Rebecca. I’m blessed to work with both amazing people and animals!

Macey Berg

Client Service Representative

My enjoyment of production agriculture came from growing up on a beef cattle farm. I also developed a love for working with both large and small animals which led to me earning a degree in Animal Science. I was familiar with Dells Vet since I was young so it made for a great fit after graduating from South Dakota State. At the front desk, I get to work with just about every one of our clients and help them with their questions or concerns. In my free time, my husband and I enjoy caring for a puppy Gertie and cat Rosco. We also own a small farm that we’re proud to care for.

Stacey Klinnert

Client Service Representative

I grew up not too far from Dell Rapids in Sioux Falls. However, once I met my husband, we moved to an acreage near Baltic. Since I was little, I’ve always had a heart for animals as well as a passion for helping people. I had years of experience in the business world but being able to help both people and animals was intriguing and inspired me to join the Dells Vet team. As a Client Service Representative, I work with the technicians and the doctor to give our clients and patients the best care possible. Outside of the practice, I enjoy the great outdoors, being in the kitchen and gym, and most of all spending time with my husband, two dogs, and four cats!

Zach Werre

Director of Public Contact

I didn’t grow up in the United States. My family and I lived in Alberta, Canada and when I was ten, we moved to Sioux Falls. This is where I met Dan and Dr. Corale Dorn. When they heard I was majoring in Business Management they gave me the opportunity to be the clinic’s Director of Public Contact. I didn’t have a background in veterinary medicine but I’m always up for a new challenge and said yes. Since then I’ve learned so much about animals both big and small. I’ve met some great people and have gotten more familiar with my surrounding community. When I’m not at the clinic, I enjoy going for walks and spending time with friends and family.

Jackie Nelson

Jackie has been in Dell Rapids for over 15 years. Her father, the late Dr. Nelson, would take her on all the farm calls. Jackie still enjoys going to the farms on her days off and spending time with her cat, Lucy.
