Dells Veterinary Services Purpose Statement

“Our clients, our community and our employees are like family. Our best day is when we help them. That’s why we’re here.”

Please call us at 605-428-5636 to speak to one of our caring veterinary staff members!

Corale Dorn, DVM, Owner

I grew up in my parent’s veterinary clinic learning from the best.  The most important thing I learned is that our clients are our family. Everything we do for them is done to help them.  I love being in a practice where we can help all creatures, great and small. It is a privilege to work with my husband and 3 kids in a second generation of taking care of your family.

Ben Langsten, DVM

Animals are our companions and our livelihood. They mean so much to us, whether as pets or the business that powers South Dakota. I became a veterinarian because I understand the impact animals can have on our lives. I look forward to working with you to keep that bond strong.

Our Technicians

Laura Schaefer, CVT, Director of Medical Services

I have been working at Dells Vet Services since 2014. I became a technician because I have a great love of pets and I love helping clients learn about their animals. Dells Vet is a great place to work because we offer the best care and take care of your pets as if they were our own. There is a great sense of community here at Dells Vet, and coming from a small town myself, I love the relationships that we form with our clients.

Nicole Wrage

I have been an employee at Dells Veterinary Services since 2009 when I started as a kennel attendant in high school. I have moved my way up the ladder and am now a certified veterinary technician. I have stayed at Dells Vet because this is my community and family. It is very important and rewarding to me to help people and animals that I recognize and love every day. I choose to be a veterinary technician because of my passion to care for animals to help them live the longest, healthiest, and happiest life possible.

Jana Bruce-Wattier, CVT

I originally went to Augustana to study psychology because I wanted to work in a field that would allow me to help others. It didn’t quite feel like the right fit. I had a strong interest in math and science. When I saw that being a veterinary technician was an opportunity to help people and their pets with these skills I was on board! I went to Globe to get my associates degree, and soon after completed my boards to complete my certification. I wanted to feel skilled in my abilities to help doctors with their patients to the best of my abilities. I have stayed with the Dells Vet team because it has allowed me to become closer to the Dell Rapids community and a great clinic.

Our Staff

Dan Dorn, Executive Director, Owner

I have been with the clinic since my wife (Dr. Dorn) and I opened the clinic in 2006.  One of the greatest enjoyments I have had is watching my three kids grow up around the clinic and watching much of the community become my extended family.  I truly enjoy the relationships I have developed along with the trust and confidence clients put with us to help them with the pets and production animal needs.  I look forward to continuing those relationships for many year to come!

Nathan Zoelle, Director of Public Contracts and External Marketing

Growing up in a small town, you understand that helping your fellow neighbors in need is just one of many things you are honored to be a part of.  Working at Dells Veterinary Service gives me that chance to be a part of helping that fellow neighbor in need.  With great medicine we will take care of your pets and livestock.  And with a friendly smile, good communication, and a little education, we will make sure you the customer in need is taken care of.  And I am honored to be a part of it all.

Katie Kirkholm, CSR

I love working in a small town community where we have the opportunity to know our clients and their families by name. I have a great passion for all animals of all sizes so being the first point of interaction as you walk through the front door, call in for an appointment, or as you are leaving, you can know that I have done everything that I can to help you and your animal.  I feel that organization is key to ensure you have enough time for the doctor to see your animal and give you a complete treatment plan, without having a long wait time. I love what I do and knowing that I work with a team of people that share the same goals and values as I do, makes my job feel more like I’m helping take care of my family.

Hayley Beth Liebel, Student Intern

I grew up on ranch/farm near Timber Lake, SD raising beef cattle, horses, sheep and pigs and growing wheat, sunflowers and flax. I am currently a junior at South Dakota State University majoring in Animal Science: Science Specialization Pre-Veterinary Medicine and minoring in Animal Health with the goal of becoming a veterinarian in the future. In my spare time I enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking, and volleyball.

Jackie Nelson

Jackie Nelson has been in Dell Rapids for over 15 years. Her father, the late Dr. Nelson, would take her on all the farm calls. Jackie still enjoys going to the farms on her days off. Jackie has one cat at home, named Lucy.

You may notice new faces around the clinic.  We offer externships to pre-veterinary and veterinary students as they go through school.  We have had students from Auburn, Colorado State, Iowa State, Kansas State, Pennsylvania, South Dakota State University, Ohio State, and  University of Minnesota to name a few.  This is an opportunity for these students to gain veterinary experience while exploring South Dakota.  Introduce yourself and strike up a conversation with them!
